Sometimes there’s no greater satisfaction than making your favorite food/snack/condiment on your own at home. And this Healthified Nutella is definitely one of those things when it’s worth the extra effort. Nutella is always a crowd-pleaser but has weird, unnecessary ingredients in the prepackaged version. Making it yourself lets you control which ingredients go in and you can make it just the right sweetness. My homemade nutella is smooth, creamy, chocolate-y and trust me, you’ll basically be wanting to smother it on everything. It’s dairy free, lower in sugar than the original, and has NO WEIRD INGREDIENTS! You can make this keto-friendly by using stevia or any other no carb/no calorie sweetener. I like to use Bulletproof’s brain octane oil instead of regular coconut oil for some extra good quality fats.

Making your own nutella at home is well worth the extra effort. This chocolate hazelnut spread is so good you'll basically want to spread it on everything. With only good for you and straight forward ingredients it'll have kids and grown ups alight with joy!
Ingredients
- 1 lb raw hazelnuts
- 4 tbsp coconut sugar or other sugar alternative
- 3 tbsp coconut oil or for a brain boost use Bulletproof brain octane oil, MCT oil, XCT oil, or other good quality fat
- 2 tbsp cacao butter melted
- 1 tbsp coconut butter
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp cacao powder
- dash of salt
Instructions
Heat oven to 400 degrees
Place hazelnuts on a baking sheet and roast for 10 minutes, turning sheet halfway through baking. Be sure to watch them as they will turn from roasted to burnt very quickly.
Remove hazelnuts from the oven, let cool slightly and use a clean kitchen towel to rub off the hazelnut skins as best as possible.
Blend nuts with all other ingredients in a high powered blender or food processor starting at a low speed then gradually increasing speed. (I tried it in both and got slightly smoother texture with the Vitamix).
Taste hazelnut chocolate spread adding more sea salt or sweetener to your liking.
Let cool completely then store in airtight container in the fridge!
